Twitter 101

What exactly is twitter? Why is it so popular? And should I be using it for my online business?

Great questions! All questions I had too, BTW. So let me give you some answers.

Twitter is like a mini-blog. With Twitter you can keep people informed on what is going on in your life, without spending a lot of time creating a formal blog post – not that creating blog posts is that hard anyway – but Twitter makes it easy.

Quick posts about what’s happening in your life can be very useful. For example, you can very quickly and easily tell the people in “your world” that you just bought a new car and you’re crazy about the color or “that you thought the referee just made a super bad call on Monday Night Football .

Twitter is perfect for keeping people informed on what you are up to without taking a lot of time to do it.

The really cool thing about Twitter is you can follow people and have followers. You are kept up to date on the people you are following and the people following you are kept up to date about you.

Can you begin to see how this could apply to your online business? You could instantly let your customers, and potential customers (your Twitter followers) know about your latest product launch or affiliate promotion.

I think one of the biggest advantages for us “online entrepreneurs” is the ability to link Twitter to our blogs. I learned about this from my good friend, and blog expert, Yvonne.

You do have a blog, don’t you? If not, click here.

Yvonne was doing some work on my blog and also set it up so that every time I make a blog post my Twitter followers are notified.

And if that isn’t cool enough, every time I post something I seem to get more followers! Twitter can be very viral, in a good way!

BTW, if you need a blog expert comment to this post and I’ll hook you up.

So there you have it. The quick 411 on Twitter. Be on the lookout for additional articles I’ll be posting about Facebook and Linked In, as well as more info on how to use Twitter for online success.

And, if you follow me at http://www.twitter.com/DelLewis,  you’ll know exactly when I post the new stuff 🙂

To Your Success,

A Quick Story – A Dream Comes True

Here’s short a story about a guy who has been in business for over 20 years. He has built businesses in all sorts of industries. And like so many others, he has had some successes and lots of failures.

As he got older however, he noticed that business success was less about what he did and more about how he did it. In other words he realized that the concepts of “80 hour work weeks” and “vacations are for wimps” weren’t the keys to success. He figured there had to be a better (smarter) way.

His Quest Begins

As you might have guessed, that guy is me. I’m in my mid 40’s (okay, late 40’s) and I live in the San Diego, CA area. When I’m not working on my various business enterprises or spending time with my family I’m usually on the golf course (mostly looking for my errant ball).

Over the years I’ve done a lot of thinking and research on what makes us “successful”. Of course, one of the things I came to realize was that “success” is a self-defined term. In other words, it is what it is, for you.

My challenge was always that I love playing golf, taking long walks, playing basketball, watching sports on TV, and hanging out on the beach. All so called “no -no’s” according to conventional wisdom on how to get ahead!

But I never gave up. And I finally figured it out.

Mentors and Teachers

I want to give full credit where credit is due. Many people contributed to my recent “ah-ha’s” and have helped me to create a terrific life, and I want to single out a few in particular (you can check out who they are and what they have to offer by clicking on the links next to their names):

Armand Morin
Bob Doyle – Wealth Beyond Reason
Ken Evoy – Site Build It
Jimmy D. Brown – Sales Army

I’ve incorporated their teachings and programs into my online business model and I have created for myself a simple to manage and very profitable web based business.

The Dream Comes True

In the end what I’ve created for myself is a business that earns me money whether I’m playing golf or playing with my kids on the beach!

And this is something I believe ANYONE can do.

Is it slam-dunk easy – NO
Can it be done overnight – NO
Are you guaranteed “success” – NO

Hey, I’m telling you the truth here! I call ‘em Like I see ‘em.

Can you be making money while you sleep – YES
Can it be done faster than with a traditional business – YES
Can you have “success” if you follow the steps – ABSOLUTELY YES!

So that’s my story…

And that’s why I created this website. Check out what I talk about here and you too can have whatever “success” you want, however you choose to define it.

I wish you all the best,
Del Lewis
