Internet Marketing ABC’s – B is for Blogging

Blogging is a powerful web platform that can be used in a wide variety of ways online. It can help you build a reputation in your niche, build your relationship with your customers and drive traffic to your own product or your affiliate links.
In other words, it can help you make money!
What is it?
Blogs are websites where the freshest content is posted first. Normally, posts are listed in chronological order. There may be some static content in the sidebars or on other pages of the blog, but the homepage is updated when there is a new post. Visitors can post comments on your articles and you have the opportunity to create a real community in your niche.
Blogs are popular because they are very accessible. You don’t have to know much about setting up a website in order to use one. That makes them VERY “beginner friendly”.  Once the initial set  up is complete, they are as easy to use as a word processing program. To top it off, visitors love blogs because they can interact with the content. With a few smart posts and some traffic generation strategy you can quickly have an authority site in your niche.

Twitter 101

What exactly is twitter? Why is it so popular? And should I be using it for my online business?

Great questions! All questions I had too, BTW. So let me give you some answers.

Twitter is like a mini-blog. With Twitter you can keep people informed on what is going on in your life, without spending a lot of time creating a formal blog post – not that creating blog posts is that hard anyway – but Twitter makes it easy.

Quick posts about what’s happening in your life can be very useful. For example, you can very quickly and easily tell the people in “your world” that you just bought a new car and you’re crazy about the color or “that you thought the referee just made a super bad call on Monday Night Football .

Twitter is perfect for keeping people informed on what you are up to without taking a lot of time to do it.

The really cool thing about Twitter is you can follow people and have followers. You are kept up to date on the people you are following and the people following you are kept up to date about you.

Can you begin to see how this could apply to your online business? You could instantly let your customers, and potential customers (your Twitter followers) know about your latest product launch or affiliate promotion.

I think one of the biggest advantages for us “online entrepreneurs” is the ability to link Twitter to our blogs. I learned about this from my good friend, and blog expert, Yvonne.

You do have a blog, don’t you? If not, click here.

Yvonne was doing some work on my blog and also set it up so that every time I make a blog post my Twitter followers are notified.

And if that isn’t cool enough, every time I post something I seem to get more followers! Twitter can be very viral, in a good way!

BTW, if you need a blog expert comment to this post and I’ll hook you up.

So there you have it. The quick 411 on Twitter. Be on the lookout for additional articles I’ll be posting about Facebook and Linked In, as well as more info on how to use Twitter for online success.

And, if you follow me at http://www.twitter.com/DelLewis,  you’ll know exactly when I post the new stuff 🙂

To Your Success,
